Bulls send Dunleavy to Cavs to make room for Wade
The rumors hinted that the Chicago Bulls are now in talks with Cleveland Cavaliers for possible trade options for their shooting guard, Mike Dunleavy.
The veteran forward has agreed to return to the Cleveland Cavaliers on a two-year contract, as he announced via Snapchat on Wednesday night.
The Chicago Tribune first reported the trade.
We aren’t all that far removed from seeing Jefferson’s impact on the team, whether it’s on or off the floor, and that will be key for the 36-year-old over, at least, the next two seasons. The salary cap-strapped Cavs also reportedly gave the Bulls the National Basketball Association rights to several players now playing overseas. The Bulls also traded point guard Jose Calderon to the Lakers to create the necessary cap space for Wade.
He is due $4.8 million this season and has a non-guaranteed $5.1 million due in 2017.
In 74 appearances for the Cavaliers, he averaged 5.5 points and 1.7 rebounds. For his career, his average point total is 11.5, with a 37.6 percentage from long range.
The NBA champion Cleveland Cavaliers lead the league in merchandise sales, but Stephen Curry of the runner-up Golden State Warriors has the NBA’s most popular jersey.
Wade, who became a Twitter phenomenon Tuesday when unfounded reports had him on the verge of signing with Cleveland, which could offer only the $3.48 mid-level exception, wasn’t the only Heat player to make news regarding the Cavs.
Nevertheless, Richard Jefferson’s somewhat surprising decision to return back to the Cavaliers is a big win for them as they will try to defend their title for next season.
