Bulls sign 1st-round pick Portis, add Brown, Henry as assistants to Hoiberg
With plenty of time before the season begins, the Bulls could look to move one of their big men.
The Chicago Bulls have officially released their 2015 National Basteball Association Summer League roster as the team will head to Las Vegas to compete.
Aaron Brooks coming back is great for the Bulls. Contract terms are not yet clear. He also is there to play in place of the often-injured Rose. UPDATE: David West has signed with Spurs. The good news is that he has a ton of depth to work with, especially if Snell, McDermott, Bobby Portis, and Cameron Bairstow pan out. It’ll be interesting to see what kinds of things he tries out. Gibson has been very solid for the Bulls when healthy, but he is making over $8 million the next two years and that likely does not fit the role that he will have.
The available free agent point guards were pretty bad, and getting worse by the hour. He’s too limited as a passer and defender to log heavier minutes, but as a backup to Derrick Rose, he fared well. ESPN Chicago reports that names like Josh Smith, David West, JR Smith and Gerald Green could be potential options along with Amar’e Stoudemire, Jordan Hill, Luis Scola and Chris Copeland. The fans and sports reporters combed through the Arkansas power forward’s Twitter history and found some disdainful tweets regarding new teammates Derrick Rose and Pau Gasol – but tweeted tons of praises for the four-time MVP star LeBron James and the Miami Heat. The Bulls have the mini mid-level exception available that can pay up to about $3.3 million per season and also can sign players to veteran’s minimum contracts if they so choose.
