Bungie replaces Peter Dinklage with Nolan North as Ghost in Destiny
Game of Thrones star Peter Dinklage’s voice-over performance as Ghost was widely panned when Destiny first came out. “Year One” weapons and armor, as they will come to be known, won’t level up past their current level.
Despite attempts to tinker with the actor’s voice to achieve an android-style delivery, the developers were still not impressed and subsequently replaced him with veteran voice actor Nolan North. He’ll take over the role of Ghost upon the release of upcoming DLC The Taken King. This change doesn’t affect just “The Taken King“, but Bungie actually re-voiced all of the Ghost’s dialogue.
North will be a familiar voice to hardcore gamers, having voiced characters in games such as Uncharted, Assassin’s Creed and The Last of Us among many others. “In the same way that the player learns about the game and the world, maybe the Ghost grows with them”, North said to Game Informer.
North will make his debut in Destiny: The Taken King, an update to the title which is due to be launched in September.
The line was first heard during a story mission that featured into Destiny’s public beta test, but it was scrubbed from the finished game. You have to give it your own spin.
Fan opinion of Destiny has oft been divided with some of the industry’s most vocal critics and supporters.
Gamingbolt reports that a new video from Game Informer features their interview with Bungie regarding “Destiny: The Taken King’s” new gameplay, story and weapons.
With just over a month left until its release, Bungie seems much more loose-tongued when it comes to talking about Destiny’s next major expansion, The Taken King.
Well we’re now past that awkward third date and Bungie knows that if it’s going to get a fourth, it needs to get those shots back out, make you breakfast in the morning and then spend the day in the park walking and yes, talking. I thought that the game had ultimately become an endless grind of doing the same raids in hopes of leveling up, and I couldn’t justify playing it anymore.
