Burger King Introduces a Spicy Version of Its Chicken Fries
Chicken fries and a soft drink are posed for a photo at a Burger King restaurant, Tuesday, August 11, 2015, in Orlando, Fla. Or more specifically, they will “make your mouth cry”.
“We need to continue to innovate, continue to do more”, said Eric Hirschhorn, chief marketing officer North America for Burger King, during a media event announcing the product.
Spicy foods are all the rage these days and we’re all better off because of it as a recent study has found that they reduce our risk of experiencing premature death, help us manage our blood pressure levels, and fight off everything from heart disease, to respiratory diseases, to obesity, to type 2 diabetes, to inflammations, to infections, and even cancer.
The burger chain announced that the popular product that is a hybrid of a french fry and a chicken finger will now be hotter than ever.
While the move to bring back Chicken Fries may have been based on iffy evidence, it has paid off for Burger King.
Chicken fries were resurrected after a 2014 BuzzFeed post included them in a list of “35 Foods From Your Childhood That Are Extinct Now”, reported Bloomberg. Billboard said Hirschhorn and the company noticed a surge in mentions of the fried chicken sticks when 1D member Liam Payne sent out this tweet. “Think I just ate my body weight in chicken fries and sides owwwwww”. New menu items have helped Burger King drive sales.
Burger King is looking to expand its offerings by introducing a spicy version of its chicken fries.
This week the chain will begin rolling out Fiery Chicken Fries nationwide, for a limited time only.
