Burning Man – an unusual festival
– Thunderous blasts of fireworks kicked off the destruction of the proverbial Burning Man Saturday night as residents of this temporary city in the desert cheered. It’s considered a “plug-and-play” camp, where burners from London, New York, Los Angeles, and San Francisco drop in and enjoy luxury accommodations, rather than rough it in a tent on the desert floor.
Pershing County Sheriff’s Office, which helps patrol Burning Man, is now investigating the claims.
A very unfortunate and saddening event happened last night at White Ocean, something we thought would never be possible in OUR Burning Man utopia.
As the Reno Gazette-Journal reports, “Hired help assists the camp in the concert productions and the corral of RVs that surround a catered cafeteria and lounge space”. Please join us at our White Ocean stage and help us celebrate life through music. “Nonetheless, with open hearts and vast love for what we bring to Burning Man, we will absolutely not let this pathetic violation stop what we came here to do”.
The Big Imagination Foundation transformed a Boeing 747 into an art and music venue for the Burning Man festival.
The campsite organizers also claim 200 gallons of potable water was dumped over the camp, in what they say has been a festival where they have been “sabotaged from every angle.” .
The revolutionary club hopes to provide an immersive experience for the festival-goers who will all be asked two questions upon entering the site: “What baggage do you need to lose?” and “Where are you going?” “The shows I went to were chill and accepting”.
Set up by DJs and entrepreneur Timur Sardarov, the White Ocean digs are favored by celebrities and have been criticized for not being in the spirit of the “radical inclusion” and “decommodification” event.
From its humble beginnings on San Francisco’s Ocean Beach, Burning Man has become a global destination for artists, dreamers, doers and those who want to spend a week in the desert with a makeshift pop-up community of over 70,000. This is supposed to be about love, happiness, sharing, giving and appreciating.
Pershing County Sheriff’s Office and Burning Man officials could not be reached Friday for comment on the incident.
