Burnley settle for draw with Brighton
Can Chris Hughton’s Brighton preserve their unbeaten league record at Burnley today?
“As regards the penalty decision, we’re not saying that Lewis Dunk didn’t have part of the lad’s shirt but I think it was a little bit of each”. “But the disappointing thing for me is you’ll see that game after game in whatever the league”.
Brighton fan Andy Gresty added: ‘We’ve travelled all over the country watching The Seagulls, but I can honestly say we’ve never watched the game from a living room inside a stadium.
The defender was involved in the fourth-minute incident which led to Zamora’s first-minute opener being cancelled out in the 1-1 draw at Turf Moor.
Bobby Zamora was called into Brighton’s starting line-up and had an instant impact, scoring inside a minute after being the first to react when Tomer Hemed hit the crossbar.
Burnley manager Sean Dyche commented: ‘It’s going to be very unusual to have a fully kitted out living room situated in the David Fishwick Stand.
“I could see his back from 65 yards away”. “If that’s the case, a penalty is usually given”.
“We lost a player who has been very important to us right at the last minute, which didn’t put us out of our stride, which I was pleased with, that shows a good mentality yet again, and I like a lot of what the group did”.
That Burnley heart was typified by Barton, a player whom it is fair to say, carried with him an enormous amount of baggage when Dyche came calling in August with the player’s options apparently drying up after a proposed deal with West Ham collapsed in predictably controversial fashion following supporters’ complaints. “He’s enjoying what he’s doing”.
Burnley have also impressed this season with the decision to splash out a reported £9 million on Andre Gray proving an astute piece of business. “He is somebody who, at his age, knows and realises he can’t be the player he was six or seven years ago”.
“Very good play for Scotty to whip one past the far corner, had the crowd on their feet, then the great chance when Andre did well to get into the corner and I will remind everyone, they might question the finish, but it was Scotty getting on the end of his own pass – fantastic mentally and physically to do that”.
