Bus slams into NYC building, at least seven injured
The Resorts World Casino bus appears to have torn through a corner of a three-story building located at 87-17 63 Avenue in Rego Park, Queens.
Eight of the injured were believed to have been on board, the other in the building. Seven of the injuries were considered serious, but everyone was expected to survive, officials said.
Receptionist Fran Ferraro says said her office shook when the bus struck. Rescuers continued to comb through the rubble of bricks and siding.
As the new school year is just days away, students and their parents may begin to feel anxious, but they shouldn’t get too worries, experts say there is plenty of time to adjust to a new schedule before Monday. It was not clear how numerous victims were inside the bus, inside the building, or on the street, firefighters said.
A witness says the crash left a Resort World Casino NYC bus driver pinned inside and people could be seen climbing out of the vehicle.
It’s operated by the Brooklyn-based Trans Express, Inc., according to the website.
A spokesman for the casino said the company’s thoughts and prayers were with the injured and the company was cooperating with the investigation.
