Bush has considered backing out of pledge if nominee is Trump
The latest attack against Ted Cruz comes after last Tuesday’s CNN debate.
The candidates who aren’t Donald Trump rise or fall a notch or two based on their debate performance, but they don’t land the punch that knocks him off his perch well atop the field.
‘Jeb doesn’t really believe I’m unhinged, ‘ Trump said. “I always have and I always will. And I challenge every other Republican candidate to say the same thing or if not, then to stop making silly assertions that their record and my record on immigration are the same”. Berman tried to clarify, but Jeb! assured him he had command of the question even if he had no clue what his campaign was doing.
Long’s comments are notable because they come as many Republicans in Washington are petrified that Trump’s incendiary comments about Hispanics and Muslims will alienate minority voters, as the GOP seeks to expand its appeal and win over a broader segment of the electorate.
He did, however, set a new deadline for when Trump would tank.
Bush, who has lagged in opinion polls, assailed Trump for a lack of depth and seriousness and called him a “chaos candidate” who was adept at one-liners but naive on policy issues.
“In essence, not voting for it is a vote against it, although my position in it is clear, because they needed my vote to get it passed to get to 60 votes because of the Senate rules”, Rubio said in an interview with CBS News on Friday.
Trump and Bush provided some of the biggest fireworks during last night’s Republican debate in Las Vegas, with Bush trying to hit Trump for some of his more bombastic statements, while the billionaire swatted back citing Bush’s falling poll numbers.
“You look at the attack in California the other day – numerous people, including the mother that knew what was going on”, Trump said in a reference to the San Bernardino terrorist strike initiated by two Pakistani-origin jihadis. Marco Rubio on immigration.
Rubio in New Hampshire yesterday tried to raise the possibility that Cruz revealed classified information when he said during the debate that the country’s new government surveillance program covers “nearly 100 percent” of phone numbers, compared to the “20 percent to 30 percent” under the old program. “Three words: Gang of Eight”, Long said, referring to the eight lawmakers who negotiated that deal.
Heading into the debate, roughly four in ten respondents said that national security was a top concern. He said that very simply because he has failed in this campaign.
“He was a supporter of legal immigration, as he said at the time and repeated to multiple media outlets for months”, Rubio said Thursday. “We’re not taking care of our great people-the veterans”, he said.
