Bush’s ‘Cringeworthy’ ‘Stumble’ Is ‘Demeaning’ to Women, ‘Gift — CNN’s Murray
On Tuesday, the former Florida governor met at the Southern Baptist Convention when he started to discuss Planned Parenthood.
Abstinence-only education, of course, is notoriously ineffective, and is a ridiculous substitute for actual investment in women’s health care.
Clinton has shown that she’s unlikely to play nice with Bush, who she views as a possible general-election matchup next year.
“Tell it to everyone who was protected by an HIV test”. He has since said he “misspoke” and chose to clarify his position. Clinton said at an event in Denver, according to CNN.
“Clinton, the Democratic frontrunner, quickly tweeted a retort: “@JebBush: “You are absolutely, unequivocally wrong”.
“We’ve seen more errors out of Jeb Bush this campaign than most of the other candidates”.
Will Jeb Bush’s gaffes prevent him from becoming the GOP nominee for president in 2016? Planned Parenthood officials have denied the charge. Marco Rubio and Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker as the most likely to win the nomination.
Planned Parenthood, meanwhile, lambasted the remark, saying it is emblematic of Bush’s beliefs.
Bush later issued a statement, saying in part, “I misspoke”. In his defense, Bush said that there are innumerable community health centers, a number of women’s health organizations and rural clinics, which require to be completely funded.
And now we can add generalized women’s health funding to that list.
Jeb Bush on Tuesday questioned the need for the federal government to spend $500m on women’s health annually.
The spat comes a day after Senate Democrats blocked a Republican bill that would bar any federal funding to Planned Parenthood and redistribute such money to community health care centers that provide women’s health care.
Democratic critics of Jeb Bush’s ad-lib Tuesday about cutting women’s health spending were joined by conservatives, who are annoyed that the inartful statement may undermine their efforts to finally score a win against Planned Parenthood.
This morning, Bush’s camp says he meant to jump on the Planned Parenthood-bashing conservative bandwagon, but in fact accidentally exposed his boredom and contempt for the very idea of women.
Democrats raced to blast him for the remarks. Teresa Kroeger/WireImage Planned Parenthood, and it’s president Cecile Richards, have been facing a lot of criticism lately after undercover videos from an anti-abortion group focusing on their donation of aborted fetal tissue.
Bush, who repeatedly portrays himself as a pro-life candidate, is also taking heat from the right on abortion.
Planned Parenthood had an annual revenue of $1.3 billion. From repealing Obamacare and replacing it with Apple Watches (something terrific, for sure), to phasing out Medicare in its entirety, you’ll be hard pressed to find any government health program that Bush hasn’t made decidedly non-moderate threats against.
