Bush Shares Powerful Veteran Portraits on Ellen
Command Sergeant Major William Paul is one of those warriors and says he was chosen for the project after participating in the Warrior Open golf tournament.
The book features 66 portraits and a four-panel mural of veterans he has come to know over the years, with each picture accompanied by a brief essay by Bush. “So, I’d tell the schedulers, ‘I want an hour every day.’ But you have to set priorities and live by ’em, but not much free time”, he said. “It’s a hard job”, Bush said.
Portraits of Courage is not political, although Bush notes one veteran’s story resonates with current events. “Sometimes my remarks can be construed as criticism”. Bush joked, while chuckling in chair.
In the clip above, Kimmel asks Bush how he felt about the impersonations about him, first asking if he’s seen Alec Baldwin’s portrayal of Trump on Saturday Night Live. They were also often spotted seated next to each other during formal events.
Mr Bush admitted during the forum that those earlier efforts lacked confidence.
Among the other projects the pair worked on was Haitian relief efforts after the 2010 natural disaster, which killed 230,000 people and affected as many as 3 million.
He let out a roaring laugh when asked if he was jealous of President Trump’s inauguration size but stopped short of mocking his claims it was the “biggest ever”. “Power is very addictive. and therefore there needs to be an independent group of people who hold you to account”.
“It has changed my life to the better”.
“That surprised everybody”, Bush told Ellen DeGeneres on a recent episode of “Ellen”. In terms of the presidency today, President Bush said it is not the first time the nation was divided.
“It’s a fascinating experience”, he said.
