Bush trashes Trump on eve of GOP convention
The RNC and Trump whip teams erupted into applause behind a sectioned-off portion of the cavernous hall when the committee adjourned, according to NBC News.
Inland delegates include Riverside County Supervisor Marion Ashley, who said he was approached about becoming a delegate by Tim Clark, Trump’s California state director.
In a marathon 15-hour meeting, the Republican National Convention’s Rules Committee voted down proposals that would have freed up convention delegates to ignore their states’ primary and caucus results and vote for any candidate they wanted.
The amendment became the focal point of furious lobbying that for weeks pitted conservatives against the Trump campaign and top leaders of the Republican Party.
Trump supporters say the movement to stop the candidate is now finished. But their efforts fizzled badly in the Rules Committee, which is dominated by members loyal to Republican Chairman Reince Priebus.
All of the GOP candidates signed a pledge during the primaries that they would support the eventual nominee, and Trump has repeatedly lashed out at Bush and other rivals who continue to criticize him.
Another concern for the Republican National Convention is security.
“We’re told that the Texas state convention is the largest political convention in the world”, Anderson said.
The Republican National Convention is scheduled for next week at the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio.
“I think that we would love to have him, don’t get me wrong”, Spicer said. Unruh said Friday that she is unlikely to seek the signatures for her own minority report, since all of her ideas failed. There’s been talk of some Trump foes walking out of the convention if they feel they’ve been treated unfairly, a spectacle top Republicans want to avoid.
My personal favorite excuse for not attending the Republican National Convention comes from Will Ritter, a Republican digital strategist who has worked on three conventions in the past. The announcement included an A-list collection of Trump’s friends and family, including Tebow.
Turner said she was too busy to attend this year’s convention, but personally supports Trump as the party’s nominee. At press time, Trump has yet to address the apparent change in programming.
Guess it’s not in God’s plan for Tebow to speak at the convention!
Many Republican delegates pushed back against Ms Unruh’s efforts, saying the efforts would be ignoring the millions of people who voted for Mr Trump across the country.
“During the pause as we were trying to get all of this together, we were approached by a number of members… who asked if they could have a period of time who asked if they could work out their differences….”
