Butte School Receives Bomb Threat Following Threats to Courthouses
NBC in NY reported schools in at least seven states received bomb threats Tuesday including Arizona, Florida and Iowa.
Dozens of schools over six states were evacuated Tuesday after callers or emails threatened to shoot or bomb students and staff, police said.
In Clifton, the city’s high school received a bomb threat in a voicemail that had been recorded sometime during the night, Detective Sgt. Robert Bracken said.
Students at some of the schools were evacuated into the very cold temperatures during the police investigation. They did not find any evidence that lends validity to the threat, Superintendent Timothy Piwowar said. Nine Boston-area schools were the targets of similar threats on Friday.
Police Chief John Drury said students were sent next door to the Henry Wilson School, a middle school, because of the freezing temperatures, while police worked to determine if there was actually a bomb on the high school’s property.
SkyFox flew over the scene of Newton North High School, where another bomb threat was phoned Monday. Officials haven’t released if any other schools in Kern County that were put on lockdown.

The threat was noticed, and reported to the main office, at approximately 10 a.m. Students were immediately evacuated from the building, following district procedure.
On Tuesday afternoon, an FBI spokesman based in Salt Lake City said the Montana Division of Criminal Investigation was taking the lead.
“When we catch the people doing this, an example is going to be made”, Saudino said.
“It’s so easy to second-guess our collective decision regarding school evacuations when you aren’t privy to preliminary information”, Sheriff Lewis of Wicomico County said in a statement Tuesday.
“At this time, there is no indication of any validity to the threat”, Bracken said. Florence Roche students were redirected to the high school. The Teaneck Board of Education and the township’s high school received both. At least one school, in the town of Fair Lawn, was briefly evacuated while law enforcement officials investigated.
Police and school staff in MA faced the same challenges.
Several schools in Maryland also received non-credible bomb threats Tuesday.
