Button Remapping Rolls out to Standard Xbox One Controllers
The new OS hit a couple of days ago for all users, and its features are really starting to become available.
Microsoft has added button remapping to the standard Xbox One controllers today. Additional information about the New Xbox One Experience button remapping feature for standard controllers is available on the Major Nelson blog.
Part of the remapping feature is the ability to swap button pairs. They also state that multiple buttons and paddles can be mapped to a single button press. If you want to use a custom configuration on any other systems you’ll have to manually recreate it. PC support for normal pads is also on the way, to be confirmed later.
For Elite Controllers, he said that only A and B needed to be mapped somewhere and that “you can have multiple buttons mapped to the same function” too. For example, the “Y” button can be mapped to the “A” button and this will subsequently map the “A” button to the “Y” button. The first is Settings / Kinect & Devices / Devices & Accessories.
Have you ever been frustrated by the fact that you have to choose between a bunch of preset control options in your Xbox One games?
Remapping support for standard controllers follows the release of the highly customizable Xbox Elite Wireless controller.
This is the fruit of the partnership made between Microsoft and third-party controller creator Scuf. So far, this has only been seen in the themed “Halo 5: Guardians” controllers, which had a different customized look. For now, Microsoft is still in the drawing board for the plans, so no details have been announced as of yet.
