Buying Business Travel: Amadeus acquires Navitaire from Accenture for $830m
Spanish trip technologies service provider Amadeus (Fakat.MC) put it would probably buy Navitaire, a division of Accenture Plc (ACN.N), for usd830 million, to totally focus primarily on singular service providers for flight tourists.
Amadeus says the acquisition will expand its services deeper into the developing changing LCC segment from its traditionally full-service base.
Navitaire caters for over 50 operators worldwide and focuses on providing technology services to low-priced and hybrid-carrier industry players.
It will take on around 550 Navitaire staff, including the senior management team.
The acquisition would allow Amadeus to improve the connectivity between different carriers in the same airline groups or their alliances. The firm provides solutions including reservation systems, sales, loyalty schemes, revenue management, accounting and business intelligence. The company said in a statement that the proposed deal is expected to close in the fourth quarter and would have a minimal impact on its 2015 financial performance. The companies are joining forces in order to provide “door to door” traveller experiences and emphasize the place of analytics, cloud and mobility in the marketplace. Accenture will continue to provide hosting services for current Navitaire clients.
The Accenture and Amadeus alliance will offer consumers a more flawless travel experience. Therefore, the acquisition will give Amadeus a wider customer base in the airline industry.
“Today’s announcement marks a new chapter for Navitaire that will enable us to accelerate and deepen our industry offerings”, said David P. Evans, Navitaire’s CEO. Our customers will benefit from greater access to Amadeus’ industry solutions to help support their growth and link with traditional industry partners.
