Buzzfeed helped Trump with explosive, unverified dossier release
President-elect Donald Trump conceded for the first time on Wednesday that Russian Federation was behind the hacking of Democratic institutions during the presidential election, saying, “I think it was Russia” – though a few minutes later he said perhaps it was another country.
Mr Trump said that news organisations which decided not to publish the claims were “so incredibly professional that I’ve just gone up a notch as to what I think of you”.
Russia has denied having any compromising material on President-elect Donald Trump, saying Wednesday that an uncorroborated report containing salacious allegations about him was “pulp fiction” meant to hurt Russian-American relations.
“Not you, your news organization is awful”, Trump replied, and turned to another reporter for a question.
Trump, whose public comments in the wake of the election have been limited to a handful of media interviews and daily Twitter missives, will take formal questions from reporters for the first time since July.
“It’s basically full of unsubstantiated rumors. Go ahead”, said the president-elect, dismissing the accusatory Acosta. Here’s what happened. Can you give us a question?
It is Russia’s first reaction to the release of a United States intelligence report on the alleged Russian operation.
So when Trump finally held his first formal post-election press conference, the press had plenty to ask him.
Asked if he accepted Russian Federation had interfered with the election through hacking, he said Vladimir Putin “shouldn’t be doing it”. 22 million accounts were hacked in this country by China. “And that’s because we have no defence”, he said.
Peskov said the Kremlin stood by its assessment of Tillerson as someone who was willing to listen and was constructive, but was aware he was likely to be a tough operator too.
Mr Peskov said there had been witch-hunts in the past in USA history, but those periods came to an end when what he described as more sober leaders took charge. Since you were attacking our news organization, can you give us a chance?
We published the dossier, which Ken Bensinger obtained through his characteristically ferocious reporting, so that, as we wrote, “Americans can make up their own minds about allegations about the president-elect that have circulated at the highest levels of the U.S. government”. When I leave our country, I’m a very high-profile person, would you say?
“I could wait about a year and a half until we finish our negotiations with Mexico, which we’ll start immediately after we get to office, but I don’t want to wait”, Trump said.
