Bye Bye Hayne For 49ers Game Against Seahawks
Jeremy Newberry, the former San Francisco and Oakland Raiders star, said Hayne still had what it takes to make his mark in the NFL. They lost to Seattle on another Thursday night at home, in an eerily similar scene to that 19-3 Thanksgiving defeat 11 months ago after which Richard Sherman chomped turkey on the field.
The Seahawks now lead the 49ers, 17-0, with halftime approaching.
Despite having Marshawn Lynch on the roster, Thomas Rawls lead the Seahawks with 334 yards rushing going into Thursday’s game. The 49ers finished with 142, fewer than the 164 they managed on Thanksgiving and their worst total since 133 yards against the Vikings on November. 5, 2006.
Russell Wilson avoids the sack during Seattle’s victory 20-3 over the Niners, Thursday October. 22, 2015.
Four days after busting out with a 74-yard touchdown reception from Colin Kaepernick, Smith was shut out cold.
The former NRL star was replaced by veteran running back and punt returner Reggie Bush. San Francisco S Antoine Bethea sustained a shoulder injury in the second quarter and did not return….
The Seahawks outgained the 49ers 411-148 in the game. And it left opposing receivers alone in open spaces to pick up big yardage. 49ers TE Vernon Davis’ 14-yard catch in the second quarter was his first reception since Week 2….
“It was not acceptable”, first-year coach Jim Tomsula said. The result was more punts (9) than first downs (8) and a measly 1-12 on third downs.
Menacing defender Michael Bennett has a new motto for these inconsistent Seattle Seahawks: keep chopping wood.
-RB Jarryd Hayne was among the seven players the 49ers designated as inactive for Thursday’s game against Seattle.
Not that he was particularly effective on his feet either.
Kaepernick was able to get off just 24 passes, completing 13 for 124 yards.
On offense, Marshawn Lynch looked healthy, and pissed. Lynch started off hot with an opening drive touchdown en-route to his 122-yards on 27 carries outing.
San Francisco CEO Jed York even apologized for his team’s poor play on Twitter. “It’s hard to get by this – it is; I’m not going to stand here and lie”.
But just in case you did, the Seattle Seahawks just gave every fan that wears the red and gold and the letters S and F a big reality check: the 49ers are not a good football team this season. The Seahawks have been deep in their heads since that fateful 2013 NFC Championship games, though, and they have beaten the 49ers by double-digit points in each of their last two wins. Sure enough, they proved more than up to the task. The Hawks advance to 3-4 in a much needed win for the season as the 49ers fall to a not-so-surprising 2-5 after the dismantling of their team in the off-season. The franchise poobahs should have been honest about it back then: Hey, with all of our best defensive players either deciding to retire or get arrested, it’s reboot time. And the Seahawks, not the same Legion of Boom, missing their offensive line, and still racking up penalties, are still in the hunt and have the resiliency to overcome the early season slow start to finish as a legitimate competitor in the NFC West. San Francisco snapped a four game losing streak with a 5-point win over Baltimore. Starting cornerbacks Tramaine Brock and Kenneth Acker each picked off Wilson once, but both picks were gifts – Wilson never should have forced those passes.
Wilson was intercepted twice on a pair of forced throws downfield – one to Doug Baldwin in the end zone and another to Jermaine Kearse. It was their first 3rd down conversion in 7 attempts.
Davis would continue to eat up yardage after a 27-yard reception would again move the chains downfield for San Francisco.
Hauschka’s field goals came in the second quarter, a 49-yarder, and the fourth quarter, a 46-yarder.
Seattle’s somehow out to a 2-4 record despite entering the fourth quarter of all six games with the lead.
