Byron Scott: Showtime Lakers would beat Warriors in seven-game series
Klay Thompson had 11 points but missed his first seven shots and, as has been the case in a handful of these wins, the Warriors took a few minutes to get rolling – and then they were off and running.
It’s inevitable. The season can be a six-month slog that may entertain the diehards the entire time, but for the average fan, by now the only thing on the horizon that warrants excitement are the Christmas Day games.
Walton praised the performance of forward Draymond Green, who he said had been the best player on the floor Tuesday night. “That’s what we’re fueled by”.
Facing Golden State’s league-best offense, L.A. was even more flummoxed on the defensive end, with no Laker scoring more than 10 points. “I think this is a dream”. There’s a lot of season left, but we’re on the right track.
Golden State built on the lead with the starters on the bench at the start of the fourth.
“I didn’t feel like I did anything special as far as winning a championship or being an All-Star or winning a lot of games here”.
Melbourne-born centre Bogut will be a key to stifling the Lakers, who have the second-worst record in the National Basketball Association with just two wins in 13 games.
But Lakers coach Byron Scott believes the “Showtime” Lakers of the 1980s could beat these Warriors. Obviously, we’ve got to play our best game of the season against the best team in the league.
The outcome of the game was never really in doubt after the Warriors raced out to a 19-point lead in the first quarter, ultimately cruising to a 111-77 win.
According to two secondary ticket marketplaces, the price for entry at the Warriors-Lakers game is one of the most expensive regular season games for both teams in years.
The Warriors hate to hear about the injury issue, or how they didn’t have any that mattered last season. He and the rest of the coaching staff celebrated the streak by congratulating each player in the locker room and reminding them that there’s more work to be done. “Whoever thought L.A. would ever be in the position they are right now and the Warriors are in the position they’re in”. Led by reigning MVP Stephen Curry, the team has seemed to up the ante, as their average margin of victory is a stupefying 14.5 points a game.
Curry and his teammates see no reason to slow down now.
“We’re probably not going to go 82-0, and we’re probably going to lose a couple games in the playoffs”. “That’s the reason we’re 15-0”. 23, 1991…. Walton confirmed before the game his vehicle was stolen last week in Oakland and he credited authorities apprehending and charging a suspect.
