C-130 plane crashes at Afghanistan’s Jalalabad airport: USA defense official
The crash happened shortly after midnight Friday local time at Jalalabad airport, coalition spokesman U.S. Army Col. Brian Tribus said.
It’s not clear why the plane crashed.
A U.S. C-130 transport plane crashed at Jalalabad airport in Afghanistan early Friday, the military said.
The city is close to the eastern border with Pakistan, an area prone to Taliban attacks. The plan was carrying six USA crew members and five contractors who were passengers. The Pentagon said it was “gathering further information”.
No word yet as to how many people were onboard, according to Sputnik News, or if there were any casualties.
The Lockheed C-130 Hercules, which has been in use since the 1950s, transports oversized cargo.
