Caerphilly town gets set for Christmas lights switch-on
The countdown is also on for Batley’s big switch-on, which will take place on Saturday November 28 with festivities taking place from 4pm-6pm.
With Christmas just around the corner, local community groups are getting ready to switch on their Christmas Tree Lights across Lisburn and Castlereagh.
He will be joined on stage by those appearing in this year’s Sheffield Theatres production of Aladdin, including Coronation Street actor Chris Gascoyne, who plays Peter Barlow.
Councillor Julie Dore, leader of Sheffield City Council, said: “I’m really looking forward to this year’s event, and hope that people of all ages will enjoy the ever-popular Christmas light switch on”.
Over 420 people had their photos taken in the pop-up snowglobe set up in front of the Town Hall.
The crowd shouted, “Be more Bailey!” as the square’s Christmas tree was illuminated with muilticoloured lights and snow began to fall from the sky.
Earlier this week Wrexham.com tweeted to say that we had spotted a “low loader with a huge Christmas tree heading into town” – however with Storm Barney hitting the town the same night, there was uncertainty as to whether or not the tree would make it up!
There will be a Foodie Fayre serving traditional bratwursts, a Christmas carvery, hot doughnuts and crepes. In December, the market will also be open until 8pm each Wednesday.
“When I heard that the Christmas lights might be in jeopardy this year, I wanted to help out and keep the Caerphilly Christmas lights on”.
Fakenham’s Christmas lights switch on has been cancelled due to safety fears after today’s gales.
