Caitlyn Jenner Settles Lawsuit with Driver Involved in Fatal Car Accident
People noted that court documents state that Jenner and Jessica Steindorff, the driver of the Prius involved in the accident, settled for an undisclosed amount for the compensatory and punitive damages she was suing for.
In late September, the Los Angeles District Attorney declined to press charges for vehicular manslaughter or any other crime against the 65-year-old star for the fatal vehicle crash on Pacific Coast Highway, which occurred in February 2015 in Malibu, California.
In the suit, Steindorff claimed that she suffered loss of wages and earning capacity as a result of the crash, and was seeking compensation for hospital and medical expenses.
TMZ reported Jenner did not have to pay anything out of pocket herself and instead her insurance company paid out the settlement. However, Caitlyn’s legal battle is not over yet, as there are still two other lawsuits, one involving the driver and passengers of the Hummer, and the other involving the two adult stepchildren of the deceased Lexus driver.
Jenner issued a statement shortly after the accident. My airbag didn’t even go off. All I probably needed was half a second of time. “I was pulling a trailer, so, no, I don’t think it was speed or anything like that”, explained Jenner, who was also not texting or under the influence of any kind. “I will continue to cooperate in every way possible”.
