Caitlyn Jenner Thanks Laverne Cox for Supporting Her – I4U News
“I had shown M. the photo of Ms. Cox on the cover of TIME when it came out past year, so M. had a vague idea that this was someone important who was also transgender,” Mack wrote on her blog. “I have never talked about the medical details of my transition, and a lot of people assume I’ve had all this surgery”.
A friend managed to get Mack and her daughter into a private reception area to meet Cox, and she staked out a spot in front of one of the room’s many doors.
While their stories may be inspirational, Cox was also quick to point out that she and Jenner don’t represent the norm in terms of transgender access and acceptance. “#TransIsBeautiful.” Caitlyn Jenner is by far not the first transgender to be in the public eye, but everyone was very familiar with her when she was Bruce so it has taken people a bit of getting used to.
“In the first eight weeks of 2015, seven trans women were murdered, and they were all trans women of colour”.
She said: “I’m too young to be an icon”.
Cox seemed shocked, and turned to the room, asking “Did you hear what that small girl said?”
And the world is right once more.
Marlo then said how Laverne crouched down to give her daughter a hug, saying:
“Remember, honey, transgender is handsome.”
Is Caitlyn Jenner holding open auditions for her squad anytime soon?
As well as Laverne, Caitlyn has received an outpouring of support from a number of celebrities including: Ellen DeGeneres, Miley Cyrus, Lena Dunham, Emmy Rossum, Sam Smith and Gigi Hadid.
