California auto police chase ends in dog chase
A police chase that ended on the 710 freeway in Long Beach on Monday night had a twist ending-a very whimsical twist ending!-when six dogs poured out of the suspect’s vehicle.
“Sometimes an officer’s job can get a little ‘Ruff!’ Great job by our officers”, the CHP wrote on its Facebook page.
Officers chased down six dogs following a pursuit involving a Mercedes driven by a 47-year-old woman.
After a police pursuit of a Mercedes-Benz came to a halt about 10 p.m. on the southbound 710 Freeway near Long Beach, the driver opened a auto door and released a brood of canines onto the roadway, according to video of the scene broadcast by KCAL-TV Channel 9. It took several minutes for the officers to wrangle the flea-bitten fugitives.
The woman, who emerged from the auto barefoot and smoking a cigarette, was taken into custody.
This gives a whole new meaning to the term “PIT maneuver”.
Traffic was stopped as officers rounded up the animals.
It wasn’t immediately known where the dogs were taken, but they were believed to be at an animal control facility in Long Beach, according to CHP Officer Villalobos.
