California “Flintstone House” Could be Yours for $4.2 Million
The prehistoric-looking house is the most recognizable building from Hillsborough, California, and it’s located on a hilltop, approximately halfway between San Francisco’s skyscrapers and the Silicon Valley. The current owner has lived in the house for 19 years, and reportedly is only the third owner of the house.
The house has no actual connection to The Flintstones franchise.
Designed by architect William Nicholson, the eccentric home was built in 1976 as a three-bedroom and two-bath property. The way she decorated and furnished her place with artwork suggests however that she felt great attachment to her surroundings.
The house is shown by appointment only.
The uniquely designed 2,730 square home is being priced a hefty $4.2 million.
Meuschke told NBC Bay Area that the asking price of $4.2 million was “a pretty good price for a landmark”.
Much hype and buzz surrounded the revelation of the property’s listing on the market, not because of people interested in purchasing it, but mainly because of their enthusiasm to take a peek of what’s inside the 39-year-old iconic “Flintstones” House, Realtor.com reported. The architect created the dome shapes by spraying shotcrete on top of wire mesh and steel rebar. The quirky home was was also called the “Barbapapa House” in the 1970s, according to Curbed San Francisco. It last sold in September 1996 for $800,000, according to Zillow.
