California GOP staffers sickened with norovirus at OH hotel
They have quarantined those with symptoms at their hotels for at least 24 hours after they have stopped showing symptoms.
The health department is running tests to confirm whether the Republican staff members have norovirus.
“To the best of our knowledge, the only ones affected are delegation staff members”, Brulte said.
According to STAT News, the Erie County health commissioner is investigating the possible outbreak at the Cleveland convention.
The staff members who became ill were in constant contact with the delegation, from filling the goodie bags they received upon check-in to handing out convention credentials every morning. Symptoms include stomach pain, nausea, and diarrhea and vomiting. It most frequently spreads when large numbers of people are in a relatively small, contained space like a cruise ship, nursing home or day care center.

No delegates, alternates or guests have reported becoming infected, but the risks are high.
Bryant told delegates meandering around the Kalahari Resort that if they feel any symptoms they should stay off the buses that shuttle delegates the 60 miles to Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland. Those traits also fit well with the description of a convention, where shared dining areas are common, people come and go, and visitors live alongside each other in hotel rooms.
California GOP staffers were briefed at a Tuesday morning breakfast about the situation, Brulte said. Now there’s another treat in store for them: the risk of norovirus! “We’ll continue to monitor the situation and ensure the delegation and staff have everything they need”.
Convention organizers are reportedly doing everything in their power to keep the outbreak in check. They’ve been told to avoid hand shaking and double dipping.
