California rock band was performing when Paris venue attacked
A couple of band members, they went to the concert, but they left early-after the first few songs they ended up leaving the venue.
Hughes and Josh Homme formed the band in 1998.
She said that Hughes was “there”, without elaborating.
It was unclear how many people were inside the theater. “We were home thank God but this is just a nightmare”, she said.
The group’s U.S.-based publicist, Jennifer Ballantyne of Universal Music Enterprises, told Reuters by email that Homme – who is known for sitting out numerous group’s live shows because of multiple commitments to other projects – was not in Paris with the band on Friday.
Ballantyne stated one other EODM member, guitarist-vocalist Eden Galindo, was reportedly protected and never contained in the venue, citing a Facebook submit by yet one more affiliate that stated: “Hey everybody”. I simply spoke with Eden.
The band posted a note on its Facebook page at about 6:45 p.m. saying: “We are still now trying to determine the safety and whereabouts of all our band and crew”. A Paris city hall official said at least 87 young people were slaughtered at the Bataclan concert hall before anti-terrorist commandos launched an assault on the building.
The bloodshed comes a few month after the discharge of EODM’s fourth album, “Unzipped”, which was adopted by the group’s look and efficiency on the late-night time ABC tv present “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”
Homme and Hughes, each from Palm Desert, met as youngsters.
“He couldn’t stand violence at a concert, he would personally get involved in fights – not to get them, but to separate them and try to get everybody happy again”, King said of Hughes.
The AJC said Julian Dorio is not a full-time member of the band but had joined it on a European tour.
The Desert Sun newspaper in Palm Springs, California, where the band is based, reported Friday night that Hughes was safe after escaping from the back of the theater.
EODM had last performed Wednesday in Glasgow and was due to play next in Touroing, France, on Saturday.
The alternative metal group were set to play a three-night run at the Bataclan, starting tonight.
