California unemployment rate dips to 5.7 percent
The new Nebraska figure remained well below the preliminary national unemployment rate of 5 percent in November.
This time, the rate dropped because more Los Angeles residents reported they were working; in previous months the rate had fallen as more people dropped out of the labor force.
The state jobless rate remains below the national unemployment rate of 5 percent, according to the Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development (LWD).
Nine categories (construction; trade, transportation and utilities; information; financial activities; professional and business services; educational and health services; leisure and hospitality; other services; and government) posted job gains over the year, adding 424,300 jobs.
The dollar has gained 19.2 percent versus the currencies of the United States’ main trading partners over the last 18 months, putting pressure on the profits of multinational firms such as household products giant Procter & Gamble Co and healthcare conglomerate Johnson & Johnson.
South Carolina’s jobless rate dropped to a 14-year low in November, and the state is well-positioned to continue adding jobs in 2016. The survey of 58,000 California businesses measures jobs in the economy.
“We’re at 3.6 percent statewide unemployment, and that’s one tenth of percentage point above the low-reach prior to the last recession”, Hall said in a conference call with media Friday morning.
Texas employers expanded their payrolls in November with the addition 16,300 seasonally adjusted nonfarm jobs, marking the ninth month of job increases for Texas in 2015. “All the labor market data is pointing in the right direction, and it shows the economic expansion is still on track”. The rate and raw job numbers come from separate surveys.
IN has added almost 100,000 jobs since January 2013. But jobs for manufacturing durable goods have experienced a steady decline, from 9,100 in November 2010 to 7,900 last month. In October, Van Wert County had a 3.5 percent jobless rate. Compared with November 2014, the rate was down 0.2 percentage points. The largest percentage loss, 9.3 percent or 2,900 jobs, was in mining and logging.
The U.S. unemployment rate was unchanged in November at 5.0 percent.
