Call for supplies as standoff enters second week
In a related report by the Inquisitr, Bundy’s OR militia initially told reporters they had enough food and supplies to carry on the standoff for years, but they are now saying they are willing to accept donations in order to help them.
“He (the sheriff) did yesterday, we met and he said gracefully that he would give us free passage out of the county and free passage out of the state if we would leave”.
It wasn’t clear who the other elected officials were.
Meanwhile, more armed groups have joined protesters in OR, threatening to raise tensions in the week-long siege over land rights.
At that meeting, local residents said they sympathized with the armed group’s complaints about federal land management but disagreed with their tactics and called on Ammon Bundy and his followers to leave. They commandeered the bird sanctuary to protest the federal government’s ownership of public land in Harney County. That is the best way for you to proceed so you, the locals, call the shots and are in charge, including of any security operations in defense of your rights, as Ammon Bundy himself said is the way this is supposed to go.
“We don’t like being told what to do”, a waitress at one of the local restaurants says, echoing what has been heard nearly every day in the area.
At a community meeting in Burns, Oregon this past week, nearly all those attending supported the Harney County Sheriff David Ward’s efforts to end the occupation.
“I was asked to do this by the Lord”, said Bundy, a Mormon, as some of the militia members nodded in understanding. It owns 85 percent of Nevada, 66 percent of Utah, 62 percent of both Idaho and Alaska, and 53 percent of Oregon.
Rice didn’t address whether his group would return, saying only: “We are moving on to present them (the articles of resolution) to other government agencies”. The ranchers – Dwight Hammond and his son Steven Hammond – distanced themselves from Bundy’s group and reported to prison Monday. In the local community neighbors described them as kind and generous, supporting charitable causes.
Pacific Patriots Network founder and leader Brandon Curtiss says the group isn’t there to support the occupation at the refuge. Atkins said, the majority of the people of Burns wanted them to leave.
As for us, Oath Keepers has a standing offer out to the people of Harney County, OR to assist them with security if they chose to start working the land again, in defiance of unjust Federal edicts, and most importantly, a standing offer to help train and organize them so that they can provide for their own security, as the Founders intended (which is the core goal of our Community Preparedness Teams (CPT)).
Bundy acknowledged – for the first time on tape – that occupants took the compound to disrupt the work of federal employees.
And we all know you can only use the inside out trick for so long.
