Cam Newton crashes party to surprise boy battling cancer
Cam Newton heard about an early Halloween party for a boy with cancer, so he showed up with an ice cream truck. Yesterday, Nickelodeon announced a new series called “I Wanna Be” (working title) where the Carolina Panthers star quarterback will help kids from around the world pursue their dreams. The street party in Concord, N.C., was for 10-year-old Elijah, who is battling a rare form of cancer.
This wasn’t the first time Newton’s made dreams come true in the Charlotte area.
Elijah, whose favorite holiday is Halloween, is a big Auburn fan.
WCNC interviewed Elijah’s mom who said “As a mom it absolutely melts your heart”.
Dressed as the joker, Elijah and his friend banned together to celebrate. “It brings tears to my eyes…This has been the hardest battle our family has ever had to go through”.
The Cam Newton touchdown flip from last weekend’s Houston-Carolina game is easily the best play of the 2015 National Football League season so far. No matter what happens then, he has already won this week.
