Camp near Srinagar Airport attacked
After all three were killed by Tuesday afternoon, Inspector-General of Jammu and Kashmir Police (Kashmir Range) Muneer Khan made a candid admission: “such attacks will keep on happening”. They will always manage to come but it is the response which is important. While some spread out into Anantnag, Kulgam, Pulwama and Shopian districts of South Kashmir, three to four terrorists are believed to be in Srinagar alone. Usually, these articles give us clear evidence about their origin. An Assistant Sub-Inspector was also killed while four security personnel including a policeman were wounded injured in the attack.
“This group infiltrated from the Sakhdar side in Jammu region”.

The Governor observed that he had spoken on these lines with Director General of Police (DGP) Dr S P Vaid immediately after he was informed about the fidayeen attack. A BSF officer whom police identified as S.K Yadav succumbed to his injuries in the hospital.
According to the Newspaper, Pakistan-based terror group Jaish e Mohammed’s “Afzal Guru squad” has claimed the attack. He went missing from his residence after being released. It took them over two days to sanitise the air base, The force was also part of the operations during the Mumbai 26/11 attack.
Officials said the militants fired indiscriminately and threw grenades at security pickets before entering the BSF camp where most inmates were asleep. The terrorists entered the colony after cutting through the wires and fences, and entered two separate buildings leading to a fierce gunfight.
“The combine troops of SOG, CRPF and BSF neutralised the third militant”. He had trained his gun in the same direction, that is towards the building, as that of the forces and so no one noticed him.
A police officer said two suspected rebels and a paramilitary officer had been killed in the fighting so far.
Home Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated the forces on the successful operation. “I have spoken to the DG CRPF and DG BSF. It was a good operation that they have conducted”, he said.
