Campaign launched to get Eagles of Death Metal to number one
The cover of Duran Duran’s classic Rio-era ballad came about when Eagles of Death Metal joined the British pop-rock veterans last month for an unlikely performance on Britain’s TFI Friday.
Eagles Of Death Metal are a side project that Homme founded with his friend, Jesse Hughes.
All members of the American band were confirmed to be safe and accounted for after an initial Facebook post from their management said they were still trying to determine the whereabouts of the band and crew.
According to the Daily Mail, more than 6,200 people have liked a Facebook page that hopes to get the band’s cover of Duran Duran’s “Save a Prayer” to the top of the chart.
The group covered the 1982 song on its album “Zipper Down” and even dueted with Duran Duran for a performance on the United Kingdom show “TFI Friday”. “At this point in time we do not really care who gets the royalties as in that is not the point immediately, we expect it might be an impressive assertion to make as a rustic”.
The Eagles of Death Metal were playing at Paris concert hall Le Bataclan when terrorists armed with guns attacked. But at least one member of the band’s entourage, merchandising manager Nick Alexander, 36, was killed, his family said in a statement on Saturday. Terrorists also took hostages during the Eagles of Death Metal concert at the Bataclan music venue, and 89 revellers were killed.
“Save A Prayer” is now sitting at No. 37 on the United Kingdom iTunes chart, and No. 3 on the United Kingdom Amazon rock chart. “It’s a statement of peace, love, and support, that’s all”.
