Can the Jacksonville Jaguars win the division?
On the field, Rashad Greene returned a 63-yard punt to set Blake Bortles up for a five-yard touchdown pass to Julius Thomas with just over three minutes remaining as the Jaguars won consecutive games for the first time in more than two years.
After Mariota (22-for-35 passing, 231 yards, 29 rushing yards) threw behind a wide-open Dorial Green-Beckham, the Titans settled for a 49-yard Succop field goal to take a 6-3 lead with 10:58 remaining in the first half.
But Greene flipped the script. Bortles hooked up with Thomas on the next play, putting Jacksonville ahead 16-13.
Late on during the Thursday night clash between the Tennessee Titans and the Jacksonville Jaguars, head coach Mike Mularkey had an opportunity to effectively ice the contest at 13-9.
“We’ve done that periodically from week to week (in practice), head coach Gus Bradley said “This week, we put more of an emphasis on it. He did a really good job in practice throwing it. It just didn’t work”. So I’m not going to change the message. “We were basically trying to get everybody out in the end zone”.
Thomas was targeted eight times, and he caught five passes.
On Tennessee’s next play, Phillip Supernaw fumbled after making a catch and Davon House recovered for the Jaguars at the 29-yard line. “My ball security wasn’t as good as it should have been”. “In the locker room, in our talk, in those, couple of players said a few things to the team that I thought were spot on”.
The Jaguars later responded with an 11-play series that spanned 73 yards and ended with a tying 31-yard field goal by Jason Myers on the second play of the second quarter. They did just that, bending but refusing to break, and the game came to an end when Mariota was sacked by Andre Branch at the Jacksonville 25-yard-line as time expired. In every nine throws, Bortles is producing one explosive play, but needs to get better on third down (the Jaguars rank 25th in the league). That left them with one play to try to score the game-winning touchdown.
Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles rebounded after a poor showing the previous week in Baltimore. Greg Olson, the Jaguars Offensive Coordinator, really needs to find a way to take advantage of their big tight end in the red zone, or give it to a running back that is bigger than Robinson, because successful teams score touchdowns in this situation instead of field goals. The win totals should go up from here.
The Indianapolis Colts and Houston Texans came into Week 11 with four wins, and the Jacksonville Jaguars got their fourth Thursday night with a 19-13 win over the Tennessee Titans.
We have yet to see the true power of this fullback, taken in the fourth round.
Cornerback Aaron Colvin sealed the victory by knocking down E.J. Manuel’s fourth-down pass.
“We haven’t been in this situation for a long time”, linebacker Paul Posluszny told the media after the game. “When we are efficient and playing with the effort that we’re playing with, we are a good football team”.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – In the woeful AFC South, there is no clear king.
A win on Thursday Night would have given the Titans a chance in the woeful AFC South for a possible divisional berth in the playoffs, but with the loss and now owning a 2-8 record, they can get down to the business of getting ready for the draft and the 2016 season.
