With Sesame Street switching to its new home on HBO for its 46th season next month, the channel has released a poster and trailer, which we have for you here… Sesame Street’s move to HBO has to do with one thing: money.
Sesame Workshop struck a deal back in August that allows HBO to host the next five seasons. Others still anxious that Bert would be scandalized by the gratuitous nudity on Game Of Thrones.
“Sesame Street’s” new half-hour episodes premiere on HBO Saturday, Jan. 16, when two new episodes will debut.
To celebrate, the show’s new home has just released a colorful promo featuring Cookie Monster, Elmo, Oscar the Grouch and all their pals – as well as a passel of celebrities like Jon Hamm and Tina Fey.
The most important takeaway from the trailer, though, is that the vibe of Sesame Street has remained unchanged, even as it’s decamped to its fancier digs.
Sesame Street has been an hour-long show for a while now, but HBO has departed from that format, running at “a dynamic 30 minutes, helping kids focus their attention and engage with each story”.
