Candidates Step up Their Game Before Super Tuesday
We have seen that eight years ago despite winning the majority in Super Tuesday, Hillary Clinton went on to lose the nomination. Super Tuesday, when Colorado will be joined by 11 other states and American Samoa (for a total of 10 primaries and three caucuses), figures to bring significant clarity to a presidential race that thus far has defied conventional wisdom on both sides of the aisle.
However, both of these candidates had the highest unfavorable rating among all candidates.
Democrats will hold a straw poll this year, although the vote will not bind the party’s delegates.
The Minnesota Democratic Caucus differs from the Iowa Democratic Caucus in that the ballots are kept private and voters can choose to not participate in the discussion that happens during the meeting. “Those are the numbers that our office gets”, said Annie Schmitt, the Executive Director of the El Paso County Democratic Party. Only two Democratic candidates are left, Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders. Political watchers believe – and polling backs this up – that Clinton will perform especially well in the southern Super Tuesday states, where African-American voters make up a significant portion of the population.
Any liberal who has ever been at a protest march for social justice has heard the popular chant: “This is what democracy looks like!”
She says the mudslinging Republican debate Thursday was like “the Jerry Springer show” while the Democrats, as she put it, have been “mentally concise” in their debates.
Johnson thinks Clinton is saying the same things as she did when she campaigned against Barack Obama in 2008 – and lost the primary.
The Larimer County Republicans Convention and Assembly will be at 9 a.m. (registration at 8 a.m.) March 19 at Colorado State University’s Lory Student Center, 1101 Center Avenue Mall, Fort Collins. One such petition by MoveOn.org, has over 179,000 signatures.
Not so fast, says the Democratic Party. On the lower end is Alaska (3), DE (3), New Hampshire (4) and Iowa (6).
Which states seem most competitive? Bernie Sanders (D-Vt.) won New Hampshire, earning 71 delegates, 20 of whom are superdelegates.
CNN’s Jake Tapper asked Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz why the Democratic Party would embrace such a plainly undemocratic process. Then, you will elect your friends and neighbors to become delegates to the county convention.
In other words, the Democratic Party’s superdelegates exist to preserve the power and influence of the Democratic Party’s elite.
In a state where right-wing Christianity has long suffused Republican politics, it suddenly mattered less. You must have registered with your political party by early January.
For Republicans, it’s their last best chance to halt-or at least slow-Donald Trump’s momentum. But democracy is democracy, folks. We just don’t know where he stands on so many issues.
According to a new poll, almost one in three Trump supporters in SC supports banning gay people from entering the United States. Sweeping them under the rug via a superdelegate trouncing would be convenient but wrong.
The break with the past is more clearly apparent in the GOP, where class identity has abruptly eclipsed religious and cultural identity as the primary determinant of how Republicans vote. That one comes from Mussolini, who was a fascist, and, perhaps if he were alive today, would be a superdelegate. Here’s another quote: “Democracy is attractive in theory; in practice it is a fallacy”.
