Candlelight vigil held for slain Detroit firefighter
Authorities say a 59-year-old Detroit firefighter has been found fatally shot at his home on the city’s west side.
Madrigal’s body was discovered Monday night by his son after the firefighter failed to return telephone calls.
“We still haven’t been able to accept what we’ve been told”, said Lt. James Edwards with the Detroit Fire Department.
Police said the victim’s Ford Explorer was missing from the home, but was later found.
If you have any information that could help police make an arrest you’re asked to give them a call.
“They didn’t see him”, Jones said.
The Detroit police are not confirming whether the case is a homicide.
Simmons told the crowd: “I was thinking, ‘I got burned, and you’re making jokes?'” But he laughed then, and the memory stuck.
Firefighters union president Mike Nevin says Madrigal planned to retire in 2016 and a party was planned at Belle Isle in June.
An investigation was launched when he didn’t show up for an annual Christmas wrapping event on Saturday.
