Canucks trade Nicklas Jensen to New York Rangers for Emerson Etem
The sixth-overall selection in the 2014 draft, Virtanen has scored one goal and added three assists through 19 games played with the Canucks this season. I have been very perimeter these past four years, to be honest.
Not so, says Canucks general manager Jim Benning. He has yet to appear in an National Hockey League game this season, but has made 24 appearances in the past three seasons for Vancouver, scoring all six of his career points (three goals, three assists) in 2013-14. “Emerson can play either side, he can play the left side or he can play the right side”.
Jensen, 22, has skated in 27 games with the Utica Comets of the AHL this season, registering four goals and eight assists for 12 points, along with a plus-three rating.
“I have been playing with a lot of guys this year, so it will be nice to get back to guys I am used to playing with”, Burrows said.
“A couple games where I showed some flashes, but that’s kind of how it’s been throughout my career: flashes here and there that I can play”, he said.
Emerson Etem spoke with the media on Saturday for the first time since becoming a Vancouver Canuck, and afterwards multiple reporters thanked him for his honesty and candour. I think for both players – Nicklas Jensen and Emerson Etem – a change of scenery is going to serve them well.
