Capcom Announces Resident Evil 2 Remake
Since Capcom has its hands full with the Resident Evil 0 HD remaster, this remake is going to take some time.
Hirabyashi commented: “It’s been great to see so many positive comments from fans that have pushed the project to get approved”.
Ever since that remake, Resident Evil fans have been clamoring for Capcom to continue on and remake Resident Evil 2, and for 13 years, Capcom has ignored them.
No further information with regards to a possible release platform has yet been made available, but fans should more than likely expect Resident Evil 2 Remake to land on the Xbox One, PS4 and PC sometime in 2016.
Fans have been waiting to find out for years if Resident Evil 2 would ever make the expanding list of titles being put together for the new-gen consoles. There’s a big difference between taking the GameCube’s two Resident Evil games from 2002 and giving them a fresh coat of paint than completely remaking Resident Evil 2 from the ground-up. In a video posted to YouTube, producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi announced the project.
The second game documents the adventures of Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield, who attempt to escape Raccoon City after a zombie outbreak brings America to a standstill. The bigger maps and story lead the game to be one of the best in the series. Hopefully Capcom will stick to the game’s horror roots, and not go all action like with Resident Evil 6. There are no formats officially confirmed at the time of typing, but you should anticipate a PlayStation 4 release.
