Capcom Producer Braces for Eventual “Resident Evil 7” Announcement

While competitive shooters are massively popular amongst gamers, Umbrella Corps bears little resemblance to the original Resident Evil titles that started it all.
They also asked him about the current state of affairs with the series, addressing the fact that the games have become less about horror and more about action. Given the lukewarm reception to Resident Evil 6 and the whole issue of DLC and microtransactions, anticipation and excitement for Resident Evil 7 has been somewhat of a wild card.
Of course, there’s nothing wrong with Capcom departing from Resident Evil’s formula for a spin-off game – providing they can actually recapture the creepiness that made the main series great for Resident Evil 7.
News on the next numbered entry in Capcom’s long-running horror franchise may be coming soon.
As for the other known franchises under Capcom’s belt such as “Devil May Cry” and “Dragon’s Dogma”, Capcom producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi simply stated, “They’re also things I’d like to personally do, but there are no plans [for now]”. Apparently, “Resident Evil 7” is in while “Devil May Cry” is definitely out of the company’s plans. Currently, the only game that Capcom has on the books is “Street Fighter V’, which is currently in its beta testing stage”. “Resident Evil 5” has its fair share of fans, but many fans felt the series “jumped the shark” when Chris Redfield punched a boulder.
