Capitals’ Brooks Laich, actress Julianne Hough got engaged

On Tuesday, Julianne Hough announced on her Instagram page that she just got engaged to hockey player boyfriend Brooks Laich!

Hough, who was one of the breakout stars of ABC’s Dancing with the Stars and has appeared in such movies as Rock of Ages and Footloose (the new one), joined Laich on the ice for the family skate ahead of the Winter Classic past year. Laich shared the same photo and caption, showing that the two couldn’t be happier.

Laich plays Centre for the Washington Capitals and was born in the town of Wawota, Saskatchewan in Canada. This will be the first marriage for both.

The duo went public with their relationship in February 2014, according to Us Weekly.

Previously, the 27-year-old was romantically linked to Ryan Seacrest.

“He wants to dance so bad and literally want me to teach him every single day so while we’re cooking in the kitchen we’ll be dancing around with music playing”, she said in the July/August issue of Women’s Health. Now I’m not holding anything back because I’d rather get my heart broken than never know what it is to be completely, madly in love.

“On set, apparently, [Sears] was talking with Julianne … and then asked her if she’d been seeing anyone, and she said no or whatever”, Laich recalls.

Too soon to tell, but congrats are definitely in order for this happy couple!
