Capsule full of Space Station junk set to burn up over Earth
Prior to being rolled out for the Apple TV, the app was downloaded over 17 million times across all available device platforms.
Space fans with 4th-gen Apple TVs are in for a treat, as NASA has released its popular app on the platform.
The NASA TV app also includes on demand content, including videos and over 15,000 images you can slideshow through to your heart’s content, as well as both 2D/3D satellite tracking maps.
Besides that, the app will keep you informed of any opportunities to view the ISS and other NASA satellites as they pass overhead, based on your location. But as of Tuesday, Apple TV owners can call up the app without having to send it through an iPad or iPhone.
American space agency NASA took a significant step forward to create a Solar System Internet by setting up an operational Delay/Disruption Tolerant Networking (DTN) service on the International Space Station (ISS).
Currently, the DTN was added to the Telescience Resource Kit (TReK) to help researchers in transmitting and receiving data between operations centers and payloads about the station.
NASA worked closely with Dr. Vinton G. Cerf, vice president and chief internet evangelist for Google as well as a distinguished visiting scientist at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory.
“The NASA app has been a fantastic way for the public to experience the excitement of space exploration from their mobile devices”, NASA Associate Administrator for Communications David Weaver said in a statement.
