Cardinals bracing for Game 3 of NLDS against Arrieta, Cubs
The 2015 MLB playoffs continue Monday, October 12, as the Chicago Cubs host the St. Louis Cardinals in Game 3 of a National League Division Series. Oh, the Cubs also will have Jake Arrieta on the mound on Monday night for his first start since he shut out Pittsburgh in the wild-card game. “I want to be on good teams”, Lackey said.
The best-of-five series is even at a game apiece. “You know, I know the wind was blowing out – we’ll concede that – but majority were properly struck”.
By the time the Cardinals batted in the sixth, though, the Redbirds were two runs behind Drabowsky, who had overcome a butter-fingered defense but yielded a leadoff double to Gene Green.
“I want to win championships”.
“We were grinding against Arrieta all night and we did have opportunities”, Cardinals manager Mike Matheny said.
“You’ve got to go home and try for that out”, Garcia said.
The Cardinals had announced that Lance Lynn would start Game 4 on Tuesday, but Matheny said they are considering all options right now. He’ll face another fireballing youngster in Kansas City’s Yordano Ventura, who was limited to two innings in a rain-delayed Game 1 and finished the season with a 2.38 ERA in his last 11 starts.
“Just excited for this opportunity this year, being a part of this unbelievable team and looking forward to seeing what we can do in this postseason”, Wacha said.
Hendricks allowed three homers in 4 2-3 innings.
Schwarber, Castro and Bryant homered against Michael Wacha in his first playoff appearance since he threw the final pitch of the 2014 postseason for the Cardinals, a game-ending, three-run shot for Travis Ishikawa in the NLCS against the Giants.
After Martin Perez and the Rangers failed to close the door on the Blue Jays on Sunday, Derek Holland gets a chance to eliminate Toronto in his first start of this postseason.
Kyle Hendricks and Addison Russell had successful squeeze bunts and Jorge Soler’s two-run homer capped the rally that ended Garcia’s horrid outing at two innings and led to questions about the rotation going forward.
Besides the two-run homer, Soler doubled and walked twice in the Cubs’ first postseason victory since 2003.
Wong’s last nine postseason hits have gone for extra bases, matching the major league record shared by Miguel Cabrera and Jayson Werth…. “I don’t think any of us do”.
