Cardinals use big game from Carson Palmer to beat Seahawks 39-32
Big thing was the defense got off the field.
After back-to-back losses, the Bengals have a two-game lead in the AFC North and host the St. Louis Rams in Week 12. Nelson was the star, catching four passes for 142 yards and a touchdown in place of the injured Michael Floyd.
As with any team the Quarterback is the most important position and the Bengals are going to need Dalton to step up and play a solid game against a secondary that ranks number seven in pass yards per game and is tied for first in interceptions with 14.
The Bengals have been sloppy overall in the past two games. Green and Larry Fitzgerald planned to trade jerseys after Sunday night’s game in the wake of Green’s Bengals and Fitzgerald’s Cardinals trading everything else they had for 59 minutes and 59 seconds. The Cardinals have looked good lately and they’ll continue the return to reality this week. Many Bengals fans still have a sour taste left in their mouths when it comes to Palmer. Palmer’s line: 20 for 31 and 314 yards with the four scores. I feel like there was a lot of stuff out there that we can take from, different situations we can learn from and I feel like we are going to continue to do well. The Cardinals keep their three-game cushion in the NFC West, and improve to 8-2. A disastrous third quarter seemed to leave them dead for another primetime debacle, but Andy Dalton showed heart in leading a comeback in the fourth quarter. “I had a little bit of butterflies but not really”. The Bengals have been playing football since 1968. After forcing the Bengals into a quick three-and-out, Palmer did it again, driving the Cardinals down the field before hitting wide receiver John Brown for an 18-yard score. And remember the defense was shutting Carson Palmer down the majority of the fourth quarter.
NBC Sports coverage of last night’s Cincinnati Bengals-Arizona Cardinals “Sunday Night Football” game averaged a 11.7 rating, 19 share in metered-market households from 8:30 p.m.to 11:45 a.m. ET. In addition to Nelson’s big catch in the final drive, Fitz had two huge receptions on that final drive as well. Cincinnati was upset by the Texans in their last appearance, while Arizona managed a nice win over the Seahawks in Week 10.
For the second straight game running back Giovani Bernard was his offense’s best player. But a pair of prime-time losses, no matter how close, means continued relentless questions and doubts as the team attempts to prove they belong among the contenders. Defensively, the Bengals yield 236.3 yard sin passing and 102.4 yards in rushing. That play set up a 16 yard touchdown reception by rookie running back David Johnson, who caught the pass over his left shoulder and near the top left corner of the end zone. With 1:26 left in the third quarter the Cards took a commanding 28-14 lead.
But the Bengals weren’t done yet, and Hill made sure of that. He’d nail it from 32 yards out to give Arizona a 34-31 victory in a very entertaining game. With 6:27 left in the game the Cardinals were in control. With another 3.5-yard effort on the ground and only two sacks of Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer, they still nearly beat one of the best teams in the game.
Marvin Lewis and Domata Peko were confused by the penalty that set up Chandler Catanzaro for an easy, game-winning field goal.
Before the flag, the Cardinals were getting ready to spike the ball at Cincinnati’s 28-yard line.
