Cards Fire Scouting Director For Hacking Astros’ Database
A charge Jeff Luhnow deigned to Sport Illustrated.
Asked about Williams’ comment, Astros general counsel Giles Kibbe declined comment. ” “We”re looking forward to the conclusion of the FBI”s investigation.
Zweiback said that when he served as chief of the cyber and intellectual property crimes section with the Los Angeles USA attorney’s office, he investigated cases which “would have tremendous forensic evidence that would lead to a specific computer but would run into dead ends because we did not have information to show the user who was accessing it”.
The Post-Dispatch report cites a source saying Correa admitted to hacking the database in order to see if Luhnow was using the club’s proprietary data.
The Cardinals would not say why Correa was sacked.
Martin, who was hired byCardinals owner Bill DeWitt to conduct his own probe of the matter, said no other Cardinals employees have been disciplined and his investigation continues and there is no timeline for its completion. Martin has said neither is a target.
“I can confirm he was on administrative leave and subsequently was terminated (Wednesday),” Mozeliak said.

DeWitt said he and Mozeliak engaged Martin and the law firm of Dowd Bennett to assist the team in providing requested information to the feds. He has denied any involvement with leaking the data to the press. “Once our investigations are complete, we pursue all appropriate avenues to hold accountable those who pose a threat in cyberspace”.
Jeff Luhnow, who headed the Cardinals’ scouting and player development department and was a key proponent of the team’s Redbird database, was hired as the Astros general manager in December 2011.
On Thursday KMOX reported Scouting Director Chris Correa released by the Cardinals.
The Cardinals have fired scouting director Chris Correa.
Correa is just the sixth Astros player ever to win a Rookie of the Month Award and the third in the last two seasons, joining right-handed pitcher Collin McHugh (September 2014) and outfielder George Springer (May 2014).
