Cargo plane overshoots runway at Italy’s Bergamo airport
Shocking images show the moment a cargo plane smashed through a fence and onto a road in northern Italy after overshooting the runway.
A cargo plane overshot the runway after landing at Bergamo’s Orio al Serio worldwide airport, crashed the fence and stopped only in the middle of a road.
Unexpected plane crashes make many of us question our safety with pilots driving aircrafts, and we may think twice about riding in a plane ever again.
The plane involved was flight 7332 chartered by global parcel company DHL.
A local newspaper said the accident happened during bad weather in the area.
The plane crashed into the road moments after landing at around 4am.
Remarkably, no casualties were reported and the crew escaped unharmed.
Bergamo airport, the low-priced airline and cargo hub, was closed for about two-and-a-half hours early on Friday, creating delays during the busy summer travel period.
Around 2,500 were left in travel limbo as the main route to the airport remained closed.
The aircraft was en route from Paris and landed at 4.07 a.m.
