Carlos Hyde: Expected to play
The post Practice report: Carlos Hyde exits after warmups; Ahmad Brooks returns appeared first on 49ers Hot Read. He did not practice Wednesday.
In all, Hyde enters Week 6 seventh in the National Football League with 375 yards on the ground. He’s wearing what Tomsula described as an “orthopedic” in his shoe. Hyde has been the starting running back all five games this season and while his numbers are not overly impressive in the four straight losses, he has shown the potential to be great when he gained 168 yards in the 49ers’ only win over the year.
With back-up Reggie Bush sitting out with a calf injury, the door has opened for Hayne, according to the San Jose Mercury News. Basically if it’s the same injury then Hyde can play with pain and get injections but he’ll likely need off-season surgery.
Hayne, who seems to have secured the punt return job, could also be given the kick return role with another injury prone teammate – Bruce Ellington – listed with a calf injury.
Tomsula added that after going to the training room for a portion of Thursday’s session, the running back returned for team drills.
San Francisco offensive coordinator Geep Chryst said he expected Hyde to play, explaining their first choice RB might be the type of player who goes through the season with light practices but still suiting up on game day.
Will he play Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens? Beason told the New York media that Boone pushed him in the back into Hyde, that it was a “coward” maneuver and that he wouldn’t have been concussed had he not been shoved. “I don’t think so”. My guess is we see him get a few rest throughout the season during the week, and then playing on Sundays.
The 49ers players will be available to speak with reporters around 2:30 p.m. today.
