Carly Fiorina’s five best lines at the GOP debate
Republican presidential candidate Carly Fiorina took aim at party front-runner Donald Trump over his ties to the Clintons and the revelation that former president called Trump before he got into the race.
Republican Carly Fiorina moved fast on Friday to capitalize on a profile-raising debate performance, appealing to potential donors and urging grassroots supporters to open their wallets for her underdog 2016 White House bid.

She says Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, Bill Clinton and Barack Obama ended up in the Oval Office because voters wanted them there. Tonight Fiorina was the Republican who wasn’t afraid to take on Trump. “Maybe it’s because I hadn’t given money to the [Clintons’ family] foundation”.
Fiorina further highlighted Trump’s policy inconsistencies, an attack that may return in the 9 p.m. debate.
I am no fan of Trump. “I would just ask on what principles he would govern”, Fiorina said.
“You know why all of those men served as president?” she asked. She would call Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the Iranian supreme leader to express displeasure with the agreement. Democratic officials have accused her of outsourcing US jobs overseas.
“It’s a good bet that her crowds on the campaign trail are about to get a lot bigger”, said Dan Schnur, a former GOP strategist who now directs the Unruh Institute of Politics at the University of Southern California.
“When I get onstage with Hillary Clinton, we won’t be debating about the science, we’ll be debating about the solutions”, he said.
Former Texas Gov. Rick Perry understood that he needed to appear focused after his 2012 “oops” gaffe.
Mr. Perry had no gaffes as he did during a debate the last time he ran for President which doomed his first campaign.
“Apparently she doesn’t”, Graham said of the former secretary of state. “I’m the only one on this stage who has a plan that actually going to reduce immigration, something to help the American worker”.
Fiorina has not been shy about going after Hillary Clinton, whose allies quickly fired back on Thursday.
Correct the Record is a rapid response organization allied with Clinton.
That was the closest Fiorina, or any of the other six candidates, came to having a breakout moment.
The debate format didn’t allow for interaction between candidates, and little happened. “I don’t view this debating as question of winning or losing”.
There has never been quite a field of Presidential candidates like this one – in either a Democratic or Republican primary – with 17 candidates vying for their party’s nomination. Rick Santorum, who also has proposed limiting legal immigration, noted that his father had to wait in Italy for seven years before immigrating legally to the United States and reuniting with his family.
Perry was centerstage in Cleveland in the GOP-sanctioned Fox News debate of the seven candidates who did not make the cut of the top 10 for the prime time debate. While Kasich expanded Medicaid under Obamacare, Jindal did not, arguing that doing so in Louisiana would mean kicking off other citizens from their privately purchased health-insurance plans.
