Carly Fiorina Talks Trump and Religion, ‘Rocks’ for Fallon on ‘Tonight Show’
Although the former tech executive prospered as the victor of the debate, The Washington Post reports that Donald Trump was the most mentioned contender on the stage, which shows that the GOP race still orbits around his candidacy.
But she showed off a lighter side during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Monday night, making jokes about Vladimir Putin and comparing him to fellow GOP candidate Donald Trump.
She agreed to sing a song about her two dogs, Snickers and Max, to the tune of Rock Around the Clock.
White House spokesman Josh Earnest said Monday that Carson was among the top GOP presidential candidates who have made offensive views in pursuit of political support, and that voters will surely take those views into account, both in the primary and in the general election. Fallon also questioned Fiorina on the hot-button topic of Muslims in elected office, an issue popularized by a questioner at a Donald Trump town hall late last week and recently weighed in upon by another Republican front-runner, Dr. Ben Carson.
Fiorina then explained that she, in fact, had previously met Putin at a conference in Beijing.
Yet one outspoken Fiorina supporter is venture capitalist Tom Perkins, who clashed with Fiorina when he was on HP’s board but now says it was a mistake to dump her. “I think she is brilliant and has gotten a lot of unwarranted criticism”, Perkins said.
Fiorina’s reply felt lived-in, like she had long ago decided on the proper delivery-almost Carlin-esque, fast-paced and melodic-for such a message. Much of Fiorina’s jump, many assume, has to do with her performance at the latest Republican debate, which aired on CNN just last week.
“I don’t like calling people liars but I think he was less than honest to say he was not trying to establish a casino foothold in Florida, especially here in Miami”, Gelber said. “I think those are important things”. I have had similar experiences helping the less fortunate escape hard circumstances and it pays better dividends than anything politics can offer. It’s also true that this country is founded on the principle that we judge each individual and that anyone of any faith is welcome here.
Fallon asked how she felt about Ben Carson’s recent statements – that he believes a Muslim should never be able to become president of the U.S.
Only one established politician has seen a significant bump after the debate.
“I lost a child, I’ve been tested”.
I asked Fiorina about this in an email.
“Yes, I would be fine with that”, she answered.
