Carmelo Anthony says Knicks fans are stuck with him

Knicks fans seem to have a love/hate relationship with Carmelo Anthony.

“Honestly, I thought we did a great job as far as putting the pieces we needed to put together”, Anthony said at the UNLV practice facility. “We didn’t get DeAndre (Jordan), we didn’t get LaMarcus (Aldridge) and Greg Monroe”. [Kyle] O’Quinn is a great pickup; I think guys will like him.

“You all the time need the highest guys that is on the market”. “This is going to be a pivotal season for him to see really how he fits into the Knick plans and how this is going to go from here”. He appeared targeted. After which rookies, KP [Porzingis], I had him with me final week understanding at my health club. “We’re trying to start this thing off right”.

Anthony later responded to other fans and said it was “fun” and “therapeutic” to respond to critical fans. You are stuck with me buddy.

In a report by ESPN, Knicks president Phil Jackson said last month that he is yet to speak with Anthony this offseason.

The Porzingis reports spurred talk that it wouldn’t be long before Anthony would demand an exit from the Big Apple.

“Whenever you take a look at the draft, you need someone which you could develop instantly”. Porzingis is a guy who has some upside to him. “Whoever we drafted, it was going to be an issue anyway”, Anthony said.

That humbling reality recently led to baseless speculation that Anthony could want out of New York. But I’m good, man, mentally, physically, spiritually. Will he ask out, you know what I mean, if he sees that this is not happening?

“You recognize [why] I am bothered about that?”

The eight-time National Basketball Association All-Star was averaging over 24 points per game in his first season as part of the triangle offense before being placed on the shelf last year, and he did that without much support around him. “I attempt to use the summer season to myself, get away from the media”.

“He is a down-to-earth guy, and you can tell he has a chip on his shoulder and I love that”, Anthony said. “I expect that. I don’t get mad at that”. Many believe such is a sign of disappointment from the 31-year-old forward with their new acquisitions.
