Carnival Fantasy to sail Mexico cruises from Alabama

The news comes after weeks of rumors and then a confirmation from Mobile Mayor Sandy Stimpson after a meeting at the Carnival headquarters in Miami on September 3rd. The agreement approved by the council is for about 13 months, meaning the cruises will run from early November 2016 to late November 2017. The Carnival Elation, a much bigger ship, took over cruising from Mobile.

Mobilians aren’t waiting to book a cruise on what will be the newly refurbished Carnival Fantasy set to depart from Mobile in November 2016.

“We fielded dozens of phone calls of people wanting to book the very first cruise as well as wanting to find out information and pricing the entire year it’s sailing out of Mobile”, Muscat said.

In Progreso, tourists can visit Chichen Itza, one of the Seven Wonders of the World, ancient Mayan ruins and enjoy great shopping and dining experience. Diversions at Costa Maya include the centuries-old Chacchoben ruins and the Lost Mayan Kingdom, a multi-million-dollar water-themed attraction now under construction that will feature spectacular slides, an elaborate lazy river, a suspended ropes course that spans the property and more.

Located adjacent to Guy’s Burger Joint is the BlueIguana Cantina offering authentic handmade burritos and tacos along with an elaborate toppings and salsa bar.

Reservations are now being accepted for Carnival Fantasy’s departures from Mobile.

Carnival Cruises posted better-than-expected third-quarter results but warned that its end of year profits could be hit by several factors, including the migrant crisis in Europe. Carnival plans to replace the 25-year-old ship with the slightly newer Ecstasy in February.
