Carpi eye Fabio Borini swoop?
According to Sky Italia, the newly promoted Serie A club have contacted Liverpool to register their interest in Borini and are now waiting for a response from the Merseyside giants.
The Biancorossi will be playing in Serie A for the first time in their history this season and have so farbeen active in the transfer market during the summer.
It is understood, according to reports from TMW, that Carpi – who won promotion to the top flight last season – are interested in signing Borini. It proved to be a costly decision as he was never in the plans of his manager, Brendan Rodgers, and scored just one goal in the Premier League all season.
Benteke’s arrival joined by the earlier addition of Danny Ings is likely to limit Borini’s role even further, hinting that he may need to consider leaving Anfield in search of a more regular role.
Villa are looking to bolster their attack following the departure of Benteke, and although they are keen on QPR’s Charlie Austin, Borini is also on their wanted list.
It is believed the former Chelsea man is still hopeful of a spot in Italy’s EURO 2016 side and a move to Carpi will certainly provide the striker with first team football and a chance to impress national team boss Antonio Conte heading into the tournament.
