Carrie Underwood Announces New Single ‘Smoke Break’
“We all wear many hats and are spread thin, so we can all relate to being exhausted and needing a break”, she said in press release.
Then, Underwood (famous for tossing around the word “soon”, much to her fans’ frustration) proceeded to drop the bombshell everyone has been waiting for all week: the title of her brand-new single is Smoke Break, which she co-wrote with two of Nashville’s songwriting titans Hillary Lindsey and Chris Destefano.
“Smoke Break” will be available digitally Thursday night.
We’re so excited! Carrie Underwood, 32, revealed that she has new music on the way! “So there should be some things that [fans] hopefully have liked about the music we’ve done, but also a little growth, a little bit of shift, so still things they’ve liked but new things to see, hear and feel”.
“I was like ‘Yeah, smoke break is a good name for a song, ‘ ” Underwood recalled.
Back in April, the star revealed that her upcoming album will actually feature a track dedicated to her six month old son Isaiah.
Storyteller is due out October. 23.
After making her big announcement, Carrie stuck around on Facebook to chat with her fans. “This song is about having that moment to be able to escape from whatever it is that’s stressing you out and have some time for yourself”, she said in the release. “I just wanted to keep growing as a songwriter and as an artist”.
She said the trio was writing on one of the first nice days last year when they hit a creative wall and decided to go outside and take a break. It’s her first full-length since 2012’s Blown Away. Secondly and importantly, I want to tell you guys that I have new music!
